the cold
It’d getting cold in Japan. The people here don’t seem to take any major preventative measures for fighting the cold off though. Their houses are built without insulation and incorporate a lot of huge windows, and each morning when I wake up I can see my breath in my house. It seems that the cold is seen here as something to be endured and experienced rather than fought through and ignored. There really isn’t any attempt to incorporate any heartier foods into their diets to put some meat on the ‘ol bones either. I have bubble-wrapped and sealed all of my large windows and have stocked up on all the ingredients needed to make enough chili to last me ten years. My goal is to make it through my entire stay here (however long that may be) without ever having to wear a mask (the folks here wear masks when they’re sick). So far so good.
