Raw Meat
It’s common knowledge that the Japanese often incorporate a lot of raw fish into their diets. What isn’t as well-known is that they eat just about every other type of meat raw as well. Raw shrimp, raw crabs, raw whale, raw beef, raw deer, raw chicken– you name it.
Pictured above is Basashi (馬刺し), a special delicacy prized in Japan: raw horse meat. Its not bad (and orders of it will probably skyrocket this year, as this year is the year of the horse on the Chinese calendar). The raw chicken is the only one that’s gotten me sick so far…
